Two Camps
December 1, 2020
Something curious has happened in our world during this last year:
Public perception of events, as they unfold, has split into two mutually hostile halves. This has been building for a very long time, probably since the Mayflower landed on the eastern shores of Turtle Island exactly 400 years ago, and before in Europe.
One side, dubbing themselves as "Progressives", act true to their name by generally adopting a superior attitude towards those that hold more conservative points of view and constantly point fingers at the attitudes and behavior of their less "progressive" cousins.
These cousins, on the other hand, see the "progressives" as a bunch of free riders with nothing better to do than wasting their time criticizing the hand that feeds them.
Then, along comes the pandemic and is instantly turned into a political football by the two teams. The conservatives, sick and tired of being lectured to by a bunch of people they do not respect, immediately oppose rules imposed upon them while developing arguments to nullify those of the "progressives".
That's where we are at and the bug is having a hell of a good time.
